To follow up on my last blog post “Ethical Love Magick” I’m going to teach you how to do a simple, yet effective Love Magick Spell!

This Love Magick Spell is ethical; there is no targeted individual, no weird backlash or side effects to have to be concerned about. An added bonus is that you benefit by learning Tarot along the way, or deepening your understanding & connect to Tarot if it’s a skill you already practice!

What you will need for this spell:

1.) A Candle – to focus the intent of your work & to represent The Element of Fire. See my “Colors of Love” list in my previous blog post for help picking a candle for the type of energy in love you’re wishing to attract.

2.) A deck of Tarot Cards – I like The Rider-Waite deck. I prefer the Rider-Waite Radiant deck, which is the original Tarot deck of Tarot, but the colors are made “Radiant” for this issue making the original more vibrant & fun to look at. I also like this deck because though the images are artistic and mystical, they are more straight forward in translating their meaning visually which helps immensely using them as a tool in Spell Work.

3.) A Chalice of Water – To represent The Element of Water

4.) Incense – To represent The Element of Air, and to use to light your candle.

5.) A piece of Rose Quartz– Tumbled, or raw or in any form; to represent The Element of Earth, and to be used in your Spell Work.

6.) A dedicated area – to place all your items to do the Spell where it will remain undisturbed.

Let’s Get Started on The Love Spell!
1.) Gather all your items!

2.) Get out your Tarot deck. Take out all 21 Major Arcana and all of the “People Cards” in the Minor Arcana-Pages, Knights, Kings, Queens- there are 4 of each, one for each Element, making a total of 16 “People Cards.” These are the cards you will be using in your Love Spell. If you are advanced in Tarot, feel free to use any of the cards. Using the Tarot Cards, you will be selecting the TYPE of individual you are wanting to draw into your life along with the types of qualities you want this person and your relationship to have! Select all the Tarot Cards you’ll be using and we’ll take it from there! Here’s a quick look at the cards and their meanings below to get you started!

3.) Once you have selected all of your Tarot Cards for your Tarot Love Spell, it’s time to set up your altar! I personally love to place my Tarot Cards around my candle, but you can arrange them however you like, setting them out with intent. Fill your Chalice for your altar with water and place it down focusing on the qualities of The Element of Water. Pick up your Rose Quartz, and reminding yourself of it’s connection to The Element of Earth, place it on your Heart Chakra and focus on the type of Love you wish to Manifest into your life. When you have set your focus and intention, place the Rose Quartz upon your altar, light your incense, being reminded of The Element of Air, and use the incense to light your candle, being reminded of the power and passion of The Element of Fire!

Tarot Meanings – A Quick Look!

To Note, for this Tarot Love Spell, I will ONLY be including the LIGHT aspects of the Tarot Cards. Every Tarot Card has a Light and a Dark aspect. Since the focus is to bring into your life WHAT YOU WANT, we will keep the focus on the Upright Light aspects, not the Reversal Dark aspects.

The 21 Major Arcana

12.) The Hanged Man – Divine Timing, Holding Out For The Greater Good, Pause, Surrender, New Perspectives

13.) Death – I DO NOT ADVISE TO USE THIS CARD FOR A TAROT LOVE SPELL, I am including it here as part of the full Major Arcana. YOU CAN USE THIS CARD IN SHADOW WORKINGS AND WORK THAT INVOLVES BIG ENDINGS. Death represents: Endings, Change, Transformation.

14.) Temperance – Divine Balance, Moderation, Purpose, Patience (In this Tarot Love Spell, this can represent a person that identifies as Non-Binary or Androgynous; someone that is gender fluid or sexually fluid.

15.) The Devil – AGAIN, I DO NOT ADVISE USING THIS CARD FOR A TAROT LOVE SPELL. THIS CARD CAN BE USED IN SHADOW WORK TO HELP YOU SEE WHAT’S HOLDING YOU BACK OR UNHEALTHLY ATTACHMENTS IN LOVE, BUT THESE ARE SEPARATE WORKINGS. Again, I am including this Tarot Card here as to express the Major Arcana in its fullness. The meaning of The Devil is – Restriction, Attachment, Addiction, Unhealthy Habits, The Shadow Self, Lustful Sexuality

16.) The Tower– LIKE DEATH & THE DEVIL, THIS IS NOT A CARD TO USE IN A TAROT LOVE SPELL. THID CARD DOES HAVE IT’S TIME AND PLACE IN CERTAIN WORKINGS, AS YOU CAN SEE IT ALSO MEANS REVELATION AND AWAKENINGS, HOWEVER, THESE ARE USUALLY THE BYPRODUCT OF SUDDEN AND SHOCKING EVENTS, WHICH IS WHY I ADVISE AGAINST IT. The Tower Meaning – Chaos, Sudden Change, Upheaval, Revelation, Awakening.

17.) The Star – Purpose, Renewal, Hope, Faith, Connected to Ones Spirituality

18.) The Moon – Illusion, Fears, The Subconscious Mind, Intuition, That Which Is Hidden, Mysteries. USE THIS CARD WITH CAUTION. You can use this card to represent someone who is connected to Sacred Mysteries or they may be deeply connected to their subconscious mind. You want to be sure to put fourth the positive intent of The Moon, avoiding the ideas of someone filled with fear or illusion.

19.) The Sun – Success, Fun, Positivity, Warmth, Goodness, Vitality, Energy

20.) Judgement – Judgement, Inner Calling, Rebirth, Timing, Rebirth, Absolution, Discernment

21.) The World –  Completion of a Cycle, Accomplishment, The World is your Oyster, Integration, Travel

***To give an example using The Major Arcana, if I wanted a partner that interested in traveling, connected to their spirituality in a hopeful and positive way, and was in touch with both their masculine and feminine sides, I would choose The World & The Chariot since The World represents travel and The Chariot represents movement & travel as well as success. I would choose The Hermit to represent someone on their Soul Journey and The Star for someone filled with Faith that is in touch with their Spirituality. Lastly, I would pick The Magician and The Priestess would represent a Divine balance between both the masculine and feminine energies. Read more below about “The People Cards” to see how you can include gender, age, and maturity!

The 16 “People Cards” of The Minor Arcana

In the Rider Wait Tarot Deck, people are depicted and described as male or female, however one need to adhere to the gender. You can use their traits and qualities however is natural to you and what you indentify with and what you want in your life.

The Four Elements of The Minor Arcana: Fire (Wands), Water (Cups), Earth (Pentacles), Air (Swords)

Fire (Wands) – This suit is Masculine & Projective & represents Passion, Drive, Sex, Will Power

Water (Cups) – This suit Feminine & Receptive & represents Emotion, Intuition, Creativity

Earth (Pentacles) – This suit is Feminine & represents The Physical & Material World, Money, Abundance, The Tangible

Air (Swords) – This suit is Masculine & represents The Mind, Intellect, Logic, Reason, Learning, Knowledge

Page – Is used to represent a younger person who is setting out on their journey in life. They are exploring life and looking for what to do or where to go next.

Knight – Is used to represent a younger person, but someone who is maturing, they have the “vehicle” in life to get them where they need & want to be.

King – Is used to represent a more masculine presenting, an older person or a person that is more mature in life.

Queen – Is used to represent a more feminine person, also an older person, or a person that is more mature & settled in life.

***To give a quick example; If I was looking for an older man that was focused on his career but also very passionate and sexual, I would choose the King of Wands and The King of Pentacles to use for my Tarot Love Spell since The Kings represents a mature energy, Pentacles represents career and money, while Wands represents passion & sexuality.
